A Blog Instead of a Criminal Record (hopefully!)

Welcome to The Grey Dog Blog, brought to you by Modern Dog Massage! Follow me and together we'll discuss, love on, and learn about dogs of all ages. The primary focus of this blog though is senior dogs.

With their grey muzzles, soulful eyes & years of wisdom, senior dogs make my heart go pitter-patter.

Don't get me wrong, I love the silliness of a little puppy. And I'm never under-impressed by the beauty and strength of an adult dog (from Chihuahua to Mastiff!), but bring a senior dog within 50 feet of me, and I go weak in the knees. I'm mildly obsessed.

Every time I'm out in public, and see a frosted face, I have to fight the urge to swoop in and start massaging their tired hips and legs, right then and there.

I want to ask their human if they know about the amazing benefits of bone broth for their dog, and recite the recipe, or offer to send it to them ("I know we're total strangers but can I have your email address?")

I frantically wonder if the pet-parent is addressing the cognitive needs of their senior dog. "Are you doing simple things at home to make his life as easy as possible?...C'mon, (taking the random stranger by the arm) I'll come to your house and show you."

Have you heard of enrichment for seniors? NO? !?! Let me tell you all about it"

"Do you know the hidden signs of pain in your dog? For the love of all things holy you HAVE to learn them!" I want to SCREAM to the pet-parent.

Yeah...it's that bad.

So rather then getting thrown in jail with multiple counts of harassment from people that just want to have a quiet walk with their dog, I started The Grey Dog Blog.

I'll still approach those walking their senior beauties, but instead of acting all crazed I'll politely hand them my card with this blog address on it. I'll invite them to visit the Grey Dog Blog to learn more, and share stories about life with an older dog.

Damn...this is going to be hard.
